Christmas Challange Quilt

This is my Christmas quilt for my guild. It looks much better in person!

Time!

Wow, I have had not time for much of anything other then working on a new quilt! I have to get it done by Dec 6th. I have spent a little time at night (or should I say morning) working on some ATC's. Here are a few.

ATC's

Eyes

I finally got some time to sketch my eyes...well one of them. I still have trouble getting things on the left looking like what is on the right. As for the leaves I have had no luck at all with sketching one. I'm not seeing what it looks like if that makes sense. We are going camping tomorrow just up to PA so I hope to do something sketch wise while we are there.

Metal

Here is metal challenge...I'm not sure how to make something look like metal. I guess it's all in the shading. I already had the compacts done for the collection challenge and since they are metal I thought why not.

Buttons

These are some of my home made buttons. I saw this done in a craft magazine and thought it would be something to give a try. I have too many hobbies!

This is the first one I have made..I think it turned out nice!

Our PA. Trip

I took some time last night to sketch one of the barns and one of the covered bridges we saw while camping last week. The one of the barn had a morning glory growing up the side. I don't know how to draw the flower part (it would have been really really small) so I just did the leaves. The second one is of one of the covered bridges we saw. Most of them were the same type of covered bridge so I just picked one that was the best view. I did cheat a little on the bridge. I made some dots with a ruler so I could get the roof and the bottom straight. I am not the best at straight lines. And my sketches tend to get that leaning tower effect. I am thinking of doing some water colors on both.

My ATC Swap

I did these for a swap I am in. Under The Sea. I did water color the background and watercolored the Mermaids.

New Church

My quilt guild had to move from the small church we have been meeting at since our group has grown so much this past year. We have 60 members now so we needed to find a new place. This church in Westminster has new meeting rooms now that they have this new building. I did this while I was waiting for other members to show up. I was sitting in my car. I just don't know what to do with the roof. At least this is not AS crooked as some of my other sketches. And all those bricks! I would like to see the inside of the church one day. I have heard it is beautiful!

Camping

I did this in my little Moleskine while we were fishing. These are some of the lanterns some of the campers had out.

Challenge #31

My collection. I collect antique face powder compacts. The first one I ever received was from my Dad. I was 16 and I fell in love with it. I still have it along with about 200 more. I have some of them displayed in an antique round cabinet in my living room. My grandsons love to open it and bring me a compact. As long as grammy dosen't freak out I just tell them how pretty it is and to put it back, they will.

Watercolor

Just trying to learn how to mix up the watercolor paints a bit. The messy one I drew while I was on the phone the neater one I took my time with. I like them both.

Art Quilts

I saw this,

On someone's blog awhile back. I just can't remember who's. I wanted to see if I could do it. I can't figure out why everything I try to sketch is crooked. Everything slants to the left. Is it the way I hold the book? The pencil? My eyes? My brain?

Playground again.

I watercolored this and I tried to mix some of the colors together. I like the way it turned out for the most part.

Quick Sketch

This is a quick sketch I did sitting in the school parking lot. It is my first sketch in my moleskine, which I really like. I think I will use my watercolor pencils to add a little color to it. I'm not sure what that big tank is for. Maybe water?

ATC's

These are some ATC's I made today for a copper swap I am in on another group. I think 5 is my limit on how many I can make. I run out of ideas too fast! I really like the way these came out.

Playground

And since I had my grandsons here we went to the play ground for awhile and I sketched this WHILE I was there in public. Lucky for me no one came around while I was doing it. I want to add some shading to it or maybe watercolor it.

Drawing for Dummies

These are a few of the doodles from the above book. It's a nice reference book for people like me who can't draw very well. I have just skimmed through it so far. I have had my two grandsons here with me for 4 days and they keep me busy!

My kitchen

My father-in-law built this clock over 30 years ago. It was from a kit but you would never know that by looking at it. I remember going down to his house and I noticed the clock was stopped. I asked him if there was something wrong with it and he said no, he just didn't need to know it was 3:00a.m! It had been waking him up so he came down and stopped it.

More Fruit

Well I used watercolor pencils but I don't know what to do with the basket. It's white and the paper is white, should I leave it like it is?? Suggestions??

I saw this in a magazine I get every month. For me this was REALLY difficult. I wanted to post it before I painted it. I think I will use watercolors and give it a soft look. I photo is really dark.

Journal Page

I thought of this when they were having trouble on this last mission. I didn't know how to draw an astronaut so I had to just try from memory. I think he looks like one.

Challenge #18

This is the view out my kitchen doors. My cat was laying in front of them, since he loves watching the birds and the squirrls and chipmonks that come up on the deck but I can't sketch animals yet. He was really asleep on his back looking out the door with one eye open. His name is Jasper but we call him loafy. He weighs about 18lbs.

MY Page

This is my page in my journal. I don't know how anyone could do this everyday! It takes a lot of time to do one of these and to paint it. But I think they look great in my journal. I love the colors.

Teesha Moore

This is a Teesha Moore page I did in my journal. Some of these are her stamps that I don't have I just drew some of them looking at her catalog. Is that okay?? I don't want to get into trouble doing that. I just love her quirky style and zany people. If someone knows if this is wrong please let me know. Most of her stuff is really "out there"! I also watercolored this.

Table & Lamp

Here is a small table that is in my kitchen. My father-in-law built it a long time ago. I am still having trouble with how to draw a table top. So it's more level and dosen't look like a baseball diamond! I really like the way the watercolor turned out on this. Must be the paper! :-)

Fruit

I tried to sketch apples but just could not get them to come out right. So I did 1 strawberry. I am going to work on doing groups of things. I do okay sketching 1 thing but not so good on group things. Yet! :-)

Don't know

I don't know if this had a challenge # or not. Here is my veggie, tomato's. I did use my watercolor paints and I like the way they came out. I have a hard time putting things together, you know like a bowl for them to go into. I will just have to keep working on it.

Journal page

We went camping this past week up to Gettysburg and boy was it HOT! I could not believe how many people were there in tents and pop up's with no AC. I can't stand the heat. This was our first trip in our new motorhome and the AC worked GREAT! I'm just not a summer person.

More Flowers

Don't know what kind they are but they were pretty.

Cayman's

This was a house I saw in the Cayman's when we were there this summer. It's funny how all the big buildings were blown away in Ivan and here is this little house on the beach with no damage.
