More Fruit

Well I used watercolor pencils but I don't know what to do with the basket. It's white and the paper is white, should I leave it like it is?? Suggestions??

Kathy perhaps make the little pots a soft colour and leave the basket as is. If you decide to colour the pots, I'd pick something fairly neutral so as not to fight with the fruit.

Good idea. Maybe a soft peach color. Or a really light blue.

Thanks!

This turned out really well! I know what you mean about being afraid to add color when you're happy with the line drawing, but this turned out nicely. I agree with Terri...make the pots a light color. I also would leave the pots and fruit in pencil, but put a brush to the grass. I think that would make the fruit stand out very nicely. The strawberries are making me hungry!

Nice fruit sketch! I usually add reflective colors in pastel strength when trying to paint "white". Sometimes blues, lavenders, or grays are found in white... it depends on what colors are next to it. It is always hard to decide when to stop, when to add more, etc. :) And painting white is always a tricky mind game. Have fun with this challenge!

I love how this evolved--so light filled! I leave suggestions to others :-)

I agree with Kathleen Marie - look for the colours in the shadows, and paint the background, or negative space, leaving the white as space, and only touching up the shadows, where two white areas join.
